Hello, I’m David Hibbert, and I’ve got some good news for you!

Here’s how one man explained the gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ. The gospel is all about faith in what Jesus has done for us. Perhaps you have understood that salvation for our sins and eternal life is not attained through our good works, it is accomplished by Jesus Christ, by His sacrificial death on the cross, and we must receive this gift by faith. But what if you are not sure that you really have enough faith to embrace what Jesus has done for you? Here’s a story to help you. Assume It’s winter, and you live in the far North. In your back yard is a beautiful lake that is frozen over. It’s been 20 below zero for 2 weeks, and there isn’t a doubt in your mind that the ice will hold you. So you go running down to the dock, and jump out onto the ice. Unfortunately, you were wrong, and you fell through the ice. You had lots of faith, but the object of your faith, the ice, was only 1/8 inch thick, and it couldn’t hold you. A week goes by, and once again you look out on the frozen lake. But it’s been warm, and you still remember the consequences of your last miscalculation, so with great fear, timidity, and very little faith, you inch your way out onto the ice. Surprisingly, this time it holds you! It turns out the ice is two feet thick. This time you had only a tiny bit of faith, but the object of your faith – the ice – was trustworthy, it was two feet thick. The issue is really not the amount of your faith, it is the object of your faith (which is Jesus Christ). So, are you willing to take whatever amount of faith you have, and place it in Jesus. Even with just a little bit of faith, you can receive His payment for your sins, and discover that He is indeed faithful to save you and give you eternal life. And that’s your Good News For Today!
