Good News For Today 31 Franciscan University.
Hello, I’m David Hibbert, and I’ve got some good news for you!
Here’s how one man explained the gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ.
God said, “Let there be light.”
But, in our ignorance, we rejected the light. We wanted the darkness, until we saw what the darkness really was – it was sin. But unfortunately we separated ourselves, not only from the light, but also from life.
So we cried out for mercy. And God the Father, in His infinite love and mercy, had already set in motion a plan for our salvation, to save us from death.
He called to Himself a people, and told them His name. He proved His presence in His provision. He showed His faithfulness and showered His love.
He gave His all to restore our communion with Him – even his Son, His beloved. He sent Him to earth for us. Born of a virgin in Bethlehem, taking on the form of man, He walked this earth, and lived the perfect life. He spoke and acted only as his Father instructed.
He called followers, He taught and restored. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, calmed the storm, and raised the dead.
And at His time, He died for us. He submitted himself to the unbelievers. He took the pain and shame of sin with Him to the cross, where he hung, and died.
But three days later, Jesus Christ, the son of God, rose victoriously from the grave. The grip of Hell could not contain him. For our unblemished Lamb paid the price for our sins, His act of love so pure, Hell had no way to keep Him. So on that day He rose from the dead, He taught, before ascending to heaven where he sits at the Father’s right hand.
And when parting, he didn’t leave us alone, but sent His Spirit to all who receive Him and His sacrifice for us, to lead us on the path to holiness and unity with the Father.
And that’s your Good News For Today!
