Hello, I’m David Hibbert, and I’ve got some good news for you!
Here’s how Travis Cunningham explained the gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ.
What is the hope that Christians have? Who is this Jesus that they talk about? Why do Christians participate in this thing called church?
You see, God is the creator of the Earth and everything in it. He is perfectly holy, just, and righteous. He created man and woman in His image. He created us to live in perfect harmony with each other, and with Him.
Then our original parents, Adam and Eve, rebelled against God, and ushered sin into the world. As descendants of Adam and Eve, we have all participated in this sin, and because of our sin, God can rightly deal with us by giving us his wrath, and ultimately separating us from Him forever.
However, because of His love, He didn’t leave us to our own devices. Instead, the Son of God entered into the world and took on a human form. He became Jesus Christ and He lived, for us, the perfect life that we could not live.
Then He died the death that we deserved for our sins. He lay dead in that tomb for three days.
On that third day, He was resurrected by the power of the spirit, proving that His sacrifice was acceptable in the eyes of the Father.
Our response to this good news about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, is to express repentance and faith. Repentance is turning from our sin, and faith is placing our hope in Jesus as our Savior.
